Structural Engineer

A structural engineer will lead both the drafting department and the engineering of Trade Techs projects brining our team to CWB division 1 certification.

1. Duties and Obligations

  1. Review connection design and stamp Misc. Metals and Structural projects.
  2. Lead the drafting department in conceptualizing and detailing approval and fabrication drawings of complex structures from general conceptual information.
  3. Lead a team of detailers and use experience to teach team and aspiring structural engineers.
  4. Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all interactions.
  5. Help maintain project statistics and reporting as defined by company policy.
  6. Ensure drafting team exceeds schedules and efficiency metrics.
  7. Use technical expertise to teach other team members while assisting them to complete scope within schedules as required.
  8. Perform takeoffs and review architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings.
  9. Proactively generate RFI’s and seek Extras on projects.
  10. Design connections, draft submittals, and initiate drawing reviews.
  11. Spearhead the creation of a drafting manual and related proceedures.
  12. Lead the creation and delegation of drafting work packages.
  13. Preform required calculations.
  14. Create the documentation required to qualify our teams constructions.
  15. Bring Trade Tech to CWB division 1 certification
  16. Assist in general business development and system development.
  17. Uphold Trade Tech’s values and adhere to company policies.
  18. Scope of work relates to structural steel, stainless steel, aluminum, miscellaneous metals, and occasionally fiber reinforced plastic (FRP).

2. Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must be a certified structural engineer with a multifaceted understanding of metals fabrication and construction. Fit and capability are evaluated based on past successes leading teams, the complexity and scope of past projects, and your ability to balance demands simultaneously. A Structural engineer must have H&S in 4 steps, WHIMIS, and must be proficient in the Microsoft 365 Suite, and detailing programs.

3. Safety

Office staff must lead by example in all things, safety most of all. All site-specific training must be completed and adhered to. Work boots and safety glasses must be worn at all times in the shop, additionally a hard hat and high vis in the field.
